Integrated Student Wellbeing Programme Management

External professional leadership, coordination and institutional development

Student wellbeing, academic progress and a sense of belonging are closely connected. Supporting these areas calls for more than a collection of separate services. Institutions may first need a coordinated framework in which different forms of support work together.

HigherEd Services offers integrated student wellbeing programme management for higher education institutions seeking to establish a comprehensive support system or substantially reorganise existing provision. As an external professional partner, we assist with assessing student needs, designing support structures, coordinating activities and evaluating outcomes.

Rather than applying a predetermined model, we adapt the partnership to each institution’s size, academic profile, student population and available resources.

Who is this service for?

  • Institutions that have not yet established a comprehensive student support system.
  • Newly established institutions or universities significantly expanding their student services.
  • Universities responding to the needs of a growing international student population.
  • Institutions planning a major reorganisation of existing support provision.
  • Universities seeking part-time external professional leadership rather than creating a full-time management position.

What the programme can include

Institutional Review and Needs Assessment

Reviewing the student population, existing services and organisational resources; analysing feedback from students and staff.

Student Support Strategy and Service Design

Defining objectives, responsibilities, access pathways, collaborative procedures and realistic development priorities.

Mental Health Support and Prevention

Designing and coordinating arrangements for counselling, initial assessment, prevention and referral to appropriate specialist services.

Integration and Academic Progress

Peer mentoring, study groups, international student support and programmes for the early identification of academic difficulties.

Crisis Protocols and Referral Pathways

Supporting institutional reporting, communication and referral procedures while clearly distinguishing clinical and statutory responsibilities.

Faculty and Staff Development

Consultation, workshops and training for university personnel working with students.

Programme Coordination and Institutional Liaison

Professional coordination of agreed activities, regular institutional meetings and monitoring operational experience.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

Monitoring accessibility, participation and satisfaction; providing aggregated reports and development recommendations.

How we work

Institutional review

Understanding objectives, student needs and existing services.

Collaborative planning

Defining agreed activities, responsibilities and implementation timelines.

Implementation and coordination

Supporting the development and alignment of selected programmes.

Evaluation

Reviewing outcomes and making adjustments based on institutional feedback.

Flexible and cost-conscious partnerships

The service can be delivered as a time-limited institutional development project or an ongoing, part-time external professional management arrangement. Much of the planning and coordination can be carried out remotely.

Where the scope is appropriate, institutions can access professional coordination without creating a full-time management position. Actual costs and delivered capacity depend on the agreement; part-time external management does not automatically replace all the duties of a full-time employee.

Student mental health counselling, SAM-buddy peer mentoring, institutional research and training remain available independently of integrated programme management.
